It isn't enough to talk about peace, one must believe it.

And it isn't enough to believe in it,

one must work for it.

Dear Friends,

Hope you are enjoying the beautiful Spring weather. Gardens are growing.
We are surrounded by bounty. Though not all of our brothers and sisters
are blessed with the fruitfulness and peace most of us share.

I encourage you to share your blessings. Take some time to contribute to
making our world a more just and peace-filled place for all people.

Thanks for all that you do.

See below for advocacy to halt funding of the Iraq and Afghanistan
occupations, learn about the need to abolish the death penalty and check
out other activities to create a just, sustainable and peaceful world.

Sincerely,

Ira Harritt

Thursday, June 11

7-9 p.m.

In Kansas City there is a great need for peaceful solutions to conflict,
violence, and hatred - individually and collectively. International
speaker Christine Driessen, C.S.B., J.D. of Long Island City, NY says,

"Every single one of us is precious and valuable in God's eyes, no
matter what our religion, culture, race, gender or age. Each of us was
created to succeed. I've found in my own life that an understanding of
the power of the universal Christ love to heal and protect is what
undermines and destroys evil, when we embrace both our neighbors and
enemies in that love."

Co-sponsored by:

Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, Seventh Church of Christ,
Scientist, KC, MO; Christian Science Society, KC, MO

Leafletting at the KC Plant

June 12, from 2 to 3 p.m.

Dear Friends,

Some of us are leafletting at the KC Plant, which makes non-nuclear
parts for nuclear weapons, every week, and we're wanting to widen the
circle of leafletters. Consider coming to this special action on Friday,
June 12, from 2 to 3 p.m., at the current plant site at Troost &
Bannister. You can park in the abandoned lot of Couzins Catfish Castle
on Bannister, just east of Troost. We leaflet at this time because we
can catch middle-manager types leaving work early on Friday to head for
the Lake of the Ozarks ... and if we have enuf folks, we also leaflet
the general traffic and folks on the buses. For info, call the cell of
Ann Suellentrop, 913-271-7925.

This particular June 12 witness is in conjunction with the 35th
anniversary celebration June 12-14 of the Holy Family Catholic Worker
House, which serves up about 200 meals (or more) 6 nights a week and
offers breakfast 4 mornings a week at 912 E. 31st St. ... and does a few
other helpful things!

Love, Jane Stoever, 913-206-4088

last years AFSC showing of "Dr. Strangelove". We pledged to help support
the Fringe Festival in turn and recruit volunteers. If you want to
support this arts festival and volunteer tell them you are doing it
